Living out your faith is not just for Sundays – it’s an endless effort to reflect who Christ is in you, and to live that out daily. Our faith comes alive when it’s put to action. James 2:17 (CSB) says “In the same way faith, if it does not have works, is dead by itself.” Whether you’re a brand new believer or a long-time Christian, putting your faith into action in your everyday life will transform your relationship not only with God, but with everyone around you. In this post, we’re going to share five practical, scripture-based ways you can live out your faith daily.

Where to start:

1. Start Your Day with Prayer and Scripture

  • Begin your day with prayer and the Bible. Doing so will put your focus on the heart of God at the very start. There are many methods you can use to study the word, but here are some useful podcast episodes (by people we trust) talking about the Inductive Bible Study method, which focuses on observation, interpretation, and application of the verses you read.
  • Why It Matters: Sets the tone for your entire day, aligning your actions with God’s heart.
  • Tip: Use a Bible app like YouVersion for daily verses, or pick a book of the Bible and read a few verses at a time.

2. Serve Others

  • Finding even the smallest moments to serve others throughout your day positions you to think of those around you in the way Christ did. Galatians 5:13 urges us to use our freedom to “serve one another through love.” You can do this in small ways each day, join in with a local church as they serve their community, or even join us on a mission trip to serve abroad.
  • Why It Matters: Service reflects Jesus’ example (John 13:14) and builds up your community.

3. Share Your Story

  • Find an opportunity to share how God has transformed your life with a friend, coworker, or family member each day. These conversions can be simple while still being authentic. Simply sharing how Jesus has changed your life will not only be obedient to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19), but will build up your faith as you speak these things out loud.
  • Why It Matters: Personal stories inspire others and spread the gospel.
  • Tip: Practice (out loud) a 1-minute version of your story to build confidence in sharing. Also, Check out this video we made about how evangelism dosent have to be awkward.

4. Practice Forgiveness and Grace

  • One of the most practical ways to live out your faith each day is to forgive those who’ve hurt you. (Go read Ephesians 4:32) This could be as simple as forgiving someone who’s offended you in a conversation, or extending grace to those who’ve wronged you deeply in the past. Letting the Gospel work in your life in this way every single day is one of the quickest ways to live out the Word of God, because we’re all being hurt by others daily. You will likely have a chance to practice this one within the hour.
  • Why It Matters: Forgiveness is a biblical command and aligns you to be more like Christ every day.
  • Tip: Journal about a situation where you need to forgive, and as God for his heart in the situation as you pray.

5. Live with Intentionality in All You Do

  • Let your ever-growing understanding of the Word of God and the verses you are reading influence your choices at work, home, and in public. Make every effort to live in a Christ like manner even when you’re being wronged. Colossians 3:23 says “Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people”. When you live through that lens, your choices begin to reflect your belief.
  • Why It Matters: Intentionality in your choices becomes a bold witness to others and honors God as you live your daily life.
  • Tip: Reflect on areas where your actions can better align with your faith.

Final thoughts

Living out your faith practically doesn’t require moving to a foreign land as a missionary, or grand gestures of any kind. It’s about making consistent, intentional choices that align you with Gods heart and express the love of Christ to the world around you. By praying daily, serving others, sharing how your life has been changed, practicing forgiveness and being intentional, you will grow closer to God while inspiring and encouraging others around you.
